Herbal Pillows For Good Sleep You Can Make Yourself.

Updated: Mar 22, 2022

Make these powerful herbal sleeping pillows to solve insomnia issues and to get more restful sleep safe from tormenting bad dreams and negative energies.

Magical & Powerful Amulets

Imagine falling asleep and being held by beautiful flower fairies and healing plant spirits that would take care of your dreams, deep rest and any negative energies that could be around you. This might be especially appealing if you struggle with falling asleep, healthy sleep patters or perhaps if you are tormented by bad dreams or even nightmares. Plant amulet pillows are one of the easiest herbal remedies to make. They are safe, fun to create and powerful in their magic. It is so simple and fun to create them - you could make one for yourself or someone you know just with a few most common herbs. As a gift, they are very thoughtful, personal and beautiful. I would like to introduce you two type of pillows that are incredibly useful. These are:

  • a pillow for a good and protected sleep, and

  • a pillow for a powerful but safe dreaming.

However, before we will get into the ingredients, it is worth taking a note of a couple practical principles.

Tip #1 - Less Is More

If you have only started working with plants, I suggest combining up to three different herbs. This is to approach the plant medicine with humbleness and to allow yourself to learn how each of used plants shines and speaks to us - in this case, less is more. After getting to know their energy and their spirit, you could start using your own intuition and communication skills with plants to alter the composition resulting in more bespoken pillows that will be very much tailored to a specific person, their personality and circumstances. Personally, I love making medicinal pillows that combine four plant spirit (in more complicated cases, number seven works well too). Number ‘4’ is sacred in healing practice and brings additional strength to them. For instance, I would use the base of three herbs (like in the below recipes) and I would add a fourth one, for the specific scenario or a person I hold in my intention, as an expression of my intuitive channeling. It is also worth adding that any plants that you grow or forage yourself with love and care will, of course, strengthen the medicine.

Tip #2 - Use Dried Herbs & Store Them In Natural Fabric

For all amulet bags, use dried herbs (they must be thoroughly dried to prevent mould) and put them into muslin or other bag which ideally would be made from natural material like cotton, flannel, hemp or silk. You can then put them into another more decorative mini pillow case that can be reused over and over again.

Tip #3 - Keep it near by

Once beautifully crafted, simply keep it underneath or inside your usual pillow to release the fragrance with the weight of your head. Alternatively, you can place it on the top of your pillow behind or next to your head (my favourite way) - it will be so comforting to know it is there, I promise!

When & How To Make It

Pillow for good night sleep, protection and peace.

When to use it:

  • to relax the body, the mind and spirit

  • to help with the restful sleep

  • to invite motherly love, care, and compassion

  • to calm and sooth the dreaming time

  • to protect from negative energies

Mix the following herbs:

  • lavender

  • chamomile

  • hops flowers

Worth noting that lavender has an intense fragrance and it is often not for everyone. If her fragrance is too strong for you or the person you are making it for, simply reduce the amount of it or replace it, for example, with rose petals. This pillow is great for children.

Pillow to ward off nightmares while supporting psychic development

When to use it:

  • to help with psychic development

  • to protect from negative spirits, entities and spirits

  • to dispel nightmares while supporting vivid dreams and visions

Mix the following herbs:

  • rosemary

  • bay leaves

  • mugwort

This pillow is great if we want to continue enjoying our dreaming, yet we would like to be protected and still have a comfortable sleep. These plants are more powerful in their energy and spirit than in the first version of the pillow, therefore, I would usually choose them if a person suffers from nightmares, gets tormented by spirits but perhaps does not want to completely block their psychic experiences and abilities.

Alternative Herbs That Can Be Used

Here is a short list of few great alternative plant spirits that also encourage calm and restful sleeping.

  • Rose blossoms

  • Hawthorn

  • Vervain

  • Catnip

  • Marjoram leaves

  • Agrimony leaves

  • Cedar leaves

  • Calendula blossoms

  • Angelica

  • Thyme

Cleansing, charging and discarding.

These herbal pillow could be additionally cleansed, charged with the full moon and power of intention. You could also ask your local shaman, healer or a medicine women/men to feed it with additional energy and healing powers, especially, if they already have a connection to plant spirits. With time passing by, you may notice that the energy of the pillow will gradually start decreasing and this might be the time to consider making a new herbal pillow. In this case, simply create a fresh mix, offer the used herbs back to the earth, thank them for their medicine, and allow them to be transformed into another life cycle by Gaia.

Don't miss out!

…and here is a video where I make these pillows and talk a little more about plant spirits that are used for them.

Enjoy the healing powers of plant spirits!
